How the Online Content You Consume Shapes Your Reality

Here’s a good little lesson on “News”. Below is what I see on the CNN Homepage right now. This isn’t news, it’s targeted (and re-targeted) ads and online content designed to get me to look at other ads on the next click. First few links are straight ads. I own Boeing in my IRA. I just watched a video of Gary Vee on the Rich Eisen show, where they talked about rappers and NBA basketball.

I’m fine with all this, as I know how it works. Just don’t get the fall sense that you actually know what’s going on in the world based upon the content you see. There’s lots of strong opinions out there, based upon sketchy online content.

On the flip side, if you are a business owner or entrepreneur, you can learn to use this to your advantage, so long as you are providing actual value to your customers.

We are shaping our own realities based upon the content we consume. So be an active proponent for yourself. Consume online content that provides you value and truly benefits your life, and not that just entertains you.

Many of you are already aware of this, but MANY are not. So carefully consider whether or not the online content you consume is falsifying your own reality.
